Morpeth travelled to Pontefract for the last league game of the season and again made six changes from the previous week. Skipper Tom Wilkinson returned to the starting fifteen ; Andy Shippen ,Chris Pringle ,Paul Scott ,James Armstrong ,Liam Allen also came into the side.

Morpeth again started well and Liam Allen continued his rich vein of form with the opening score ,Hornby converting 7-0 and before too long also added a penalty to give a 10-0 lead. Pontefract forwards were causing Morpeth problems with their strong mauling game and from a dominant scrum got back into the game with a try but missed the conversion ,narrowing the gap 5-10.

Morpeth ,at this point ,were falling foul of the referee and Pontefract were building culiminating with a penalty try to take a 12-10 lead. Hornby put Morpeth back in front with a penalty 13-12 ,but a Mooney sin binning before half time again built pressure for the travelling Mitford Road side. 

Pontefract started the second half well and scored a try to regain the lead 17-13. Teenager Balmain then came off the bench and made an instant impact giving Morpeth the momentum form a scrum close to the hosts line ,number 8 Morrison crossing to take a 18-17 lead ,Hornby missed the conversion but made up for it soon after; kicking a penalty 21-17. The Morpeth forwards came more into the game buoyed by a good travelling support who were becoming very vocal. With time running out in the game Morpeth kicked to the corner from a penalty and prop Balmain drove over and got his first try for the Club. Hornby missed the conversion and the referee signalled fulltime to record another away win in Yorkshire for this improving team 26-17.

Morpeth now travel to Percy Park on Wednesday night for the Senior County Cup Final against Tynedale for a 7pm kickoff in the final game of the season.
